Before the Downbeat
Before the Downbeat involves a number of initiatives designed to enhance the concert experience for our audience by providing in-depth knowledge about the program of music that will be performed at our concerts. Initiatives include pre-concert talks and interviews with our Music Director and musicians.
Meet the Music
These pre-concert talks are hosted by our Music Director, Evan Mitchell at 1:30 p.m. prior to each Masterworks Series concert in the Recital Hall at the Isabel. They focus on that day’s concert repertoire, giving audience members an insight into the program. Admission is free with a concert ticket.
Dress Rehearsal Videos
These videos include a behind-the-scenes look at various orchestra rehearsals during the season, along with an interview with our Music Director. They are shared on the Kingston Symphony’s YouTube channel, on our social media pages, in email updates, and here on our website.
What's On Podcasts
These Soundcloud podcasts provide a listing of the concert going on that week and a brief glimpse behind the music with some anecdotes and history. They are shared on social media pages, in email updates, and on the Kingston Symphony website. Visit https://soundcloud.com/kingstonsymphony.
The Overture
This initiative focuses on delivering short bits of information directly to the smartphones/tablets of audience members before the concert begins.
SoundSync
SoundSync is a digital initiative where information about the music on the program is streamed to your smartphone silently and in real-time throughout the concert. The 2024-2025 season will see two Masterworks Series concerts that are SoundSync performances: Tchaikovsky & Wintory on Saturday, October 26, 2024 and Burge & Mozart on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Meet Our Musicians
These videos feature a member of the Kingston Symphony discussing what they are looking forward to most in regards to that week’s concert. These videos are shared on our social media pages, through email updates, and on our YouTube channel.
