Masterworks 4

Why have one when you can have two? Take in this double helping of incredible works, proving two is almost always better than one. Virtuoso violinist Robert Uchida returns to the Kingston Symphony stage along with award-winning pianist Philip Chiu to perform Mendelssohn’s thrilling Double Concerto. Then come back for a second helping of Mozart’s epic Symphony No. 40, his second G minor Symphony, a piece as dramatic and bold as it gets.

Program

Mendelssohn: Concerto for Violin and Piano
Mozart: Symphony No. 40

Artists

Evan Mitchell, Conductor
Robert Uchida, Violin
Philip Chiu, Piano

Before the Downbeat

Before the Downbeat involves a number of initiatives designed to enhance the concert experience for our audience by providing in-depth knowledge about the program of music that will be performed at our concerts. Initiatives include pre-concert talks and interviews with our Music Director and musicians.

Meet the Music

Meet the Music, a pre-concert talk hosted by our Music Director, Evan Mitchell, will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Isabel in the Recital Hall on Sunday, January 10, 2027. The focus will be on the repertoire to be performed at our Mendelssohn & Mozart concert. We hope it will provide more insight into the program for this concert. Admission is free with a concert ticket and seating is first come, first served.
