Application Requirements for New Members
Our string orchestras will be auditioning new members on the following
instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass. If you are interested in joining Kingston Youth Strings or Kingston A-Strings, please fill out online and submit, or scan and email, a completed Application Form to our General Manager, Daphne Kennedy, at kingstonyouthorchestra@gmail.com.
First Meeting
We will start our season off this year with a combined ensembles workshop rather than a formal audition. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in the Music Room at Kingston Secondary School, 145 Kirkpatrick Street. All interested and returning members will join Daphne for an introductory session of beginner strings ensemble warm-up exercises and learn two short pieces: a canon and a Canadian fiddle piece. Interested members will get a feel for string ensemble playing and can speak with Daphne about which group would best suit them if they are unsure.
First Regular Rehearsal
Tuesday September 29, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 5:35 p.m. (A-Strings) and from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. (Youth Strings), at Kingston Secondary School in the Music Room.
Please note there is no rehearsal on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
