Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 beginning at 5 p.m. at Kingston Secondary School. For more information, please see the audition requirements listed below.

How to Apply
For Returning Members
If you are interested in returning to Kingston Youth Orchestra, please fill out and submit, a completed Audition Form* found at the link below to our General Manager, Daphne Kennedy at kingstonyouthorchestra@gmail.com. This year, we will be auditioning everyone, those interested in joining & previous members of Kingston Youth Orchestra, for accurate seat placement.
For New Members
If you are interested in joining Kingston Youth Orchestra, please fill out and submit a completed Audition Form* to our General Manager, Daphne Kennedy, at kingstonyouthorchestra@gmail.com.
*When we receive your Audition Form you will be contacted with an audition time. Auditions are on Tuesday September 15 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Music Room of Kingston Secondary School, 145 Kirkpatrick Street, Kingston. Please show up 15 minutes before your audition time. New members will register after a successful audition.
Audition Requirements
- Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
- A solo or etude of your choice: Please prepare up to one minute of a polished solo piece or etude. Your solo need not be memorized.
- Scale: Please prepare two to three octaves of a major or minor scale.
- Woodwinds and Brass (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba)
- A solo or etude of your choice: Please prepare up to one minute of a polished solo piece or etude. Your solo need not be memorized.
- Scale: Please prepare one to two octaves of a major or minor scale.
- Percussion
- A solo or etude of your choice: Please prepare up to one minute of a polished solo piece or etude on snare drum, timpani, or mallet percussion. Your solo need not be memorized.
If you are interested in auditioning for a principal position in Kingston Youth Orchestra, please contact kingstonyouthorchestra@gmail.com to get the excerpts for your instrument. The audition will not be longer than five minutes.
First rehearsal is Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Kingston Secondary School in the Music Room.
