The Kingston Symphony Volunteers Music Awards is an annual competition that recognizes and encourages the development of musical excellence among young musicians studying symphony orchestra instruments. It provides thousands of dollars in prize money to support young performers living in Kingston and the surrounding region. 

2024-2025 Music Awards Winners

Allan-Jack Memorial Award: $2,000 (shared)

The Allan-Jack Award is given to the applicant or applicants judged as the overall best performer(s).


Winner: Paul Moellman, Age 17, Violin ($1,000)
Winner: Brodie Martin, Age 15, Piano ($1,000)

Hannah Robertson Memorial Award: $1,200 (shared)


Award for applicants aged 5 to 11 ($500): Catherine Moellman, Age 10, Violin

Award for applicants aged 5 to 11 ($200): Aidan Tran, Age 11, Piano

Award for applicants aged 12 to 16 ($500): Alexandria Xu, Age 12, Piano 

Bonnie J. Thomas Memorial Award: $600

The award is given to an outstanding string player.


Winner: Gabriel Moellman, Age 15, Violin 

Harriet Scott Memorial Award: $700 (shared)

The Harriet Scott Memorial Award will fund awards for applicants from each of the Kingston Symphony Association youth ensembles: $700 in total for the Kingston Youth Orchestra, Kingston Youth Strings, and Kingston A-Strings.


$300: Ronan Hendry, Age 11, Cello (Kingston Youth Orchestra)

$300: Lucy (Youxin) Wang, Age 13, cello (Kingston Youth Orchestra)

$100: Grace Yeseo Jeon, 12, Violin (Kingston Youth Orchestra, Kingston Youth Strings)
