Music Awards 2024
The Kingston Symphony Volunteers Music Awards is an annual competition that recognizes and encourages the development of musical excellence among young musicians studying symphony orchestra instruments. It provides thousands of dollars in prize money to support young performers living in Kingston and the surrounding region.
2024 Music Awards Winners
Allan-Jack Memorial Award: $2,000
The Allan-Jack Award is given to the applicant or applicants judged as the overall best performer(s).
Winner: Stella Li, Piano
Hannah Robertson Memorial Award: $1,200 (shared)
Award for applicants aged 5 to 11 ($600): Catherine Moellman, Violin
Award for applicants aged 12 to 16 ($600): Alessia Dudley, Violin
Bonnie J. Thomas Memorial Award: $600
The award is given to an outstanding string player.
Winner: Lucy Youxin Wang, Cello
Harriet Scott Memorial Award: $700 (shared)
The Harriet Scott Memorial Award will fund awards for applicants from each of the Kingston Symphony Association youth ensembles: $700 in total for the Kingston Youth Orchestra, Kingston Youth Strings, and Kingston A-Strings.
$500: Ronan Hendry of the Kingston Youth Orchestra, Cello
$200: Mira Sidhu of the Kingston Youth Strings, Cello
*The judges used $200 allocated for the Kingston A-Strings to top up the Kingston Youth Orchestra award.
