"Being a part of the Kingston Youth Orchestra is rewarding when all the instruments come together and make something more magical than I could do on my own! I have made many friendships over the time I have been with KYO and it’s fun to be able to play music regularly with them. Mr. J, the conductor, has great energy and he creates a fun environment for all the musicians. It’s a time of the week I look forward to!" ~Chloe, Kingston Youth Orchestra Member

The Kingston Symphony Association is dedicated to uplifting the next generation of musicians in our community through high-quality educational programming. The Kingston Youth Orchestra, Youth Strings, and A-Strings provide weekly instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities for 65 young musicians each year, under the direction of Hugh Johnston and Daphne Kennedy.

For over 50 years, our Symphony Education Partnership has enabled thousands of Grade 4 students to access music instruction as well as the opportunity to attend a Kingston Symphony Performance. This unique program is a collaboration with the DAN School of Drama and Music at Queen’s University and our local school boards.

We are also proud to share music education through our Discover the Symphony program in our local libraries and community centres, and through our online educational webseries, “Harmon in Space”.
