"Kingston Community Strings is a wonderful way of enjoying the company of people from all walks of life and demographics who share the common interests and joy in making music, just for music’s sake." ~Doug, Kingston Community Strings Member
Through the Kingston Symphony Association’s ensembles and performances, we create welcoming community spaces for people of all ages. Some examples include:
-
The Kingston Community Strings, a multi-generational, non-auditioned ensemble made up of 40 string players, which rehearses weekly under the baton of Hugh Johnston
-
The 75-member Kingston Choral Society, bringing together singers, soloists, and instrumentalists under the direction of Ian Juby, Emily McPherson, and collaborative pianist Clare Marion
The Kingston Symphony Association continues to expand the accessibility of our programming to ensure that as many people as possible can access the benefits of live music:
-
Our Harmony at Home program brings chamber music performances to isolated seniors in retirement and long-term care homes
-
The Share the Music program provides complimentary concert tickets to families who otherwise could not afford to attend a performance
-
Relaxed Kingston Symphony performances, which provide welcoming environments for people in the Neurodiverse and Disability communities
