Music Awards 2018
The Kingston Symphony Volunteers Music Awards is an annual competition that recognizes and encourages the development of musical excellence among young musicians studying symphony orchestra instruments. It provides thousands of dollars in prize money to support young performers living in Kingston and the surrounding region.
2018 Music Awards Winners
Allan-Jack Memorial Award: $2,000 (shared)
The Allan-Jack Award is given to the applicant or applicants judged as the overall best performer(s).
Winner: Leonid Nediak, piano ($1,000)

Hannah Robertson Memorial Award: $1,200 (shared)
Winner: Alice Kim, piano ($600)
Winner: Avery Marcella, piano ($600)
Bonnie J. Thomas Memorial Award: $600
The award is given to an outstanding string player.
Winner: Félix Melanson, cello
Harriet Scott Memorial Award: $600
The Harriet Scott Memorial Award will fund awards for applicants from each of the Kingston Symphony Association youth ensembles: $600 in total for the Kingston Youth Orchestra, Kingston Youth Strings, and Kingston A-Strings.

The Volunteer Committee Award:
A one-year tuition to the Kingston Youth Orchestra was offered to Rachel Hackett for her violin performance. She declined the award as it conflicted with other commitments.
